The mission

We believe South Carolina deserves better than rising premiums, denied claims, and empty promises of “reform” that serve corporate profits instead of people. True reform starts with restoring trust, protecting citizens’ rights, and demanding accountability from those who shape our laws and our livelihoods.

We’re not politicians or lobbyists — we’re the people who pay the premiums, file the claims, and expect fairness in return. Together, we’re working to shine a light on how the system really works and to make sure future reforms serve the people they’re meant to protect.

This isn’t just about saying “enough.” It’s about building something better — a fair, transparent, and accountable insurance system that puts South Carolina families and small businesses first.

“A Hurricane Took My Roof — and My Faith in the System.”

Alex Bolduin

Columbia, SC

In Florida, lawmakers were pressed on the data behind tort reform. The response: “no data” and “I don’t know.” Yet rights were cut anyway. South Carolina shouldn’t repeat that mistake. Don’t take away South Carolinians’ rights based on lobbyists’ math. Demand transparency. Demand proof. Demand reform that protects people, not just insurers.

Just when we thought Big Insurance couldn’t stoop any lower, a lawsuit now alleges that Allstate was tracking drivers through their cell phones — where they go, how they brake, how fast they drive, even how they use their phones — and then using that data to help shape rates and pad profits. That is beyond outrageous!!

People pay insurance premiums for protection, not to carry a little insurance spy around in their pocket, and that’s what makes this so maddening. Normal families should not have to wonder whether some giant corporation is quietly vacuuming up their data, scoring their behavior, and then turning around and using that information against them. That is not transparency. That is not fairness. And it sure isn’t what people think they’re signing up for when they buy insurance!

South Carolinians deserve straight answers: What data are insurers collecting? How are they using it? Is it affecting what families pay every month? If you’re concerned, contact your representative and make some noise. Insurance is supposed to be a promise — not a surveillance program dressed up as customer service!!

The chemical spill at Silfab Solar in York County is a warning. When big manufacturers pollute our communities, the law should protect the people and communities harmed, NOT the company that caused it.

In Columbia, insurance companies and manufacturing lobbying groups are pushing "tort reform" for a reason. They want more protection under the law when bad events happen, like chemical spills, because it helps shield them from liability. That is why these powerful interests pour money into campaigns, donate to elected officials, and bankroll their caucus' PACs. They want lawmakers to pass rules that make it easier for these out-of-state corporations to avoid full responsibility when their actions cause harm.

"Tort Reform" is about giving manufacturers and polluters more legal protection and putting more barriers in front of families dealing with chemical spills, contaminated water, and industrial neglect. This comes down to a simple question: when a company harms a community, who should the law protect? The citizens and the community, or the corporate interests spending money to protect themselves from liability? Let the Silfab Solar spill be a wake up call!

Are you tired of getting these spam text messages about “tort reform”? You should be. They want you to think this is a grassroots movement to help South Carolina families. It’s not. These spam texts are paid for by big business interests — including insurance, trucking and manufacturing groups — working through their “political strategists” to sell a corporate agenda to the public.

The truth is, “tort reform” is just a polished slogan for rigging the rules for big corporations and their out-of-state insurance companies, so they can dodge accountability while our families get stuck with the bill. Don’t buy the spin. These spam texts are not grassroots — just big business pressure campaigns designed to increase profits and weaken accountability. And when accountability gets weaker, it’s families, children, consumers, and taxpayers who pay the price.
